You See but Don’t See…

Can’t eat

no

home

just

concrete

cold

dirty

grains

of sand

stomped

upon

globally

cold

icy

burns

beneath

the

tents on a

ground

of cardboard

removal

quietly

surviving

and

rushed

into a

buried

ground

cleansed

by

no hospital

no visitors

no family

no name

its

inevitable

dust to dust

back to

ashes

water

wash away

in the

sewers

cause

no one

knew us

as

homeless.

  1. A few years ago I read James Bowen’s book “A Streetcat Named Bob”. It opened my eyes to what it is like to be homeless and invisible. I have never seen a homeless person in the same way since reading that book. Your words are very moving. Beautifully done!
